Hmmm, monkeys again ehhhhh? What would Jung say?
I dunno, but as chance would have it, I am taking a class on Jungian dream interpretation, starting next Wednesday, so maybe I'll find out. Suffice it to say that apes, and especially ape masks, carry a major creep-out factor for me. Uncanny valley stuff, plus simple, primitive jungle fear. Howling phantods!
Maybe it will turn out to be a Jungian archetype, like Scarecrow in Batman Begins . . . now that'll creep a body out. And there's something even more sinister about masks anyway: like marionettes just sitting in a corner or hanging on the wall, or a ventriloquist dummy, that kind of stuff creeps me out.
